App version

Gut Journal stores your records only on your own phone. We have no copy of them, so you export and delete them directly in the app without contacting us.

1. No account to close

The app needs no sign-up or sign-in, so there is no server account to close. The 8-digit device ID on the Me tab only distinguishes the on-device profile and is not a server account. Membership is managed by your Apple Account and is separate from the on-device profile.

2. Exporting your records

Path: Me → Privacy & consent → Export my original records.

Export JSON or CSV files for free and save them to Files or elsewhere through the system share sheet. Exported files contain health information; keep them safe and share them only with people or services you trust.

3. Deleting a single record

Open the record’s detail or edit screen and choose Delete. The record is then removed from the on-device database. If a record is used by a practice or outing plan in progress, finish that practice or plan first.

4. Deleting all on-device records

Path: Me → Privacy & consent → Delete all on-device records, then confirm.

This removes:

  • All health records (bowel movements, meals, mood, discomfort, medication and more)
  • Practice records and the 6-Week Plan
  • Drafts, frequent foods and medication time settings
  • Exports and PDF reports generated by the app
  • Related local reminders

The device ID is regenerated and the avatar is reset to the default. This cannot be undone, so export first if needed. If the app reports that cleanup is incomplete, the operation did not finish; please try again.

5. Deleting the app

Touch and hold the Gut Journal icon and choose Delete App, or go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Gut Journal → Delete App. iOS then removes the records, avatar and settings the app stored on the device.

Note: Offload App keeps documents and data and does not delete records. See Apple’s iPhone storage guide.

6. What is not deleted along with your records

  • Files you exported or shared: copies in Files, cloud drives, email or other apps must be deleted where they are stored.
  • Apple subscriptions: deleting records or the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in Me → Membership benefits → Manage Apple subscriptions or in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions; see Apple’s guide.
  • Data handled by Apple: purchase history and map service data are handled by Apple under its privacy policy.

7. Emails you sent us

If you emailed us and want those emails deleted, write to louiswu93@outlook.com. We will delete them and reply within 15 business days. Without a deletion request, emails are kept for up to 12 months after your issue is resolved and then deleted.

8. Contact us

Operator: 吴兆东 (Zhaodong Wu), individual developer Email: louiswu93@outlook.com Please include only what is needed to handle your request. Do not send complete health records, ID documents, Apple Account passwords or payment card details.
