Gut Journal Membership and Subscriptions
Gut Journal membership is an auto-renewable subscription purchased through the Apple App Store. This page explains what membership includes and how pricing, renewal, cancellation, restoring and refunds work. This website does not take payments.
1. Free and member features
Always free:
- Basic records: bowel movements, meals, mood, flare-ups and medication
- 7-day reviews
- Food observations (up to five foods at once, recorded separately)
- Original data export as JSON / CSV
- Tools such as Nearby toilets, Outing checklist, breathing and pelvic-floor practice
Members only:
- Mind & gut: Unwind, Sort Out Thoughts, One Small Step and the 6-Week Plan, with their records and reviews
- Longer-term reviews: 30 days, 90 days and custom periods
- Monthly PDF report generation
When membership ends or is cancelled, your original records, free features and already generated reports remain and are not deleted.
2. Prices and periods
| Plan | Period | Price on the China mainland App Store |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 1 month, auto-renewing | ¥12 / month |
| Yearly | 1 year, auto-renewing | ¥98 / year |
Introductory offer: eligible new subscribers pay ¥8 for the first month of the monthly plan, then ¥12 per month on automatic renewal. Apple decides eligibility, and the app shows the offer only when you are eligible. The yearly plan has no introductory offer, and the app offers no free trial.
Prices in other countries and regions are as shown on the App Store. The amount, currency and period charged are those shown on Apple’s purchase confirmation sheet. If a price changes, Apple notifies existing subscribers under its rules.
3. Automatic renewal
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Renewal is charged within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Membership is managed by your App Store account; no separate sign-up is required in the app.
4. Managing or cancelling
In the app, go to Me → Membership benefits → Manage Apple subscriptions, or on iPhone open Settings → your name → Subscriptions and choose Gut Journal. See Apple’s guide to cancelling a subscription.
After cancelling, membership stays active until the end of the paid period and then stops renewing. Deleting the app or clearing records does not cancel a subscription; cancel it separately.
5. Restoring purchases and changing devices
On a new device or after reinstalling, sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase and tap Me → Membership benefits → Restore purchases.
Restoring brings back membership only, not health records. Records stay on the original device and are excluded from iCloud backup, so export your original records on the old device before switching.
6. Refunds
Apple handles refunds; we cannot issue them directly. Request one from Report a Problem by choosing the purchase; see Apple’s refund guide. If a refund is approved, the related membership is turned off. Nothing here limits your statutory consumer rights.
7. Family Sharing
Gut Journal membership supports Apple Family Sharing. Members of the same Family Sharing group can use one membership without buying it again. Membership only unlocks features; no one’s health records are shared. See Apple’s Family Sharing guide.
8. Terms
Purchases are subject to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) and the Gut Journal Terms of Use. Personal information related to purchases is covered in the Privacy Policy.
