Gut Journal Terms of Use

Welcome to Gut Journal (肠易记, “the app”), provided by 吴兆东 (Zhaodong Wu), an individual developer (“we” or “us”). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the app. If this English version differs from the Chinese version, the Chinese version prevails.

1. The service

The app is a personal journaling tool that helps you record bowel movements, meals, mood, flare-ups and medication on your own phone and review your records. It also offers Nearby toilets, an Outing checklist, breathing and pelvic-floor practice, food reference material, and member features: mind & gut practices, longer-term reviews and PDF reports.

2. Not a medical service

The app does not provide diagnosis, treatment or medical advice and cannot replace a doctor’s professional opinion.

• Reviews, trends and food observations only describe what you recorded. Things occurring together does not mean one causes the other, and sample counts are not medical conclusions.
• Food reference is an index of public sources with links and is not tailored to you.
• Medication features only help you record and be reminded of instructions you already have from a clinician or the package leaflet. They do not suggest adding, reducing or stopping any medicine.
• If you have severe, persistent or worsening discomfort, seek medical care promptly. In an emergency, call your local emergency number immediately.

3. Eligibility

The app is intended for adults aged 18 or older. At first launch you confirm that you are 18 or older and agree to store health records on the device.

4. Your data

Your records are stored only on your device and belong to you. We have no server that receives them, so we cannot retrieve, restore or transfer your data for you. Protect your device with a passcode and export a backup when needed. See the Privacy Policy and Data management and deletion.

5. Membership

Some features require a membership, an auto-renewable subscription bought through the Apple App Store. Prices, renewal, cancellation, restoring and refunds are described in Membership and Subscriptions. Apple handles payments and refunds.

6. Third-party services

Nearby toilets uses Apple’s map service. Place details, opening status and routes come from Apple Maps and may be incomplete or wrong; always check conditions on site. We do not invent toilet facility information. External links in Food reference lead to third-party websites, which are responsible for their own content and privacy practices.

7. Acceptable use

Do not reverse engineer, crack or bypass payment restrictions in the app, use it for unlawful purposes, or interfere with its operation. Text, icons, illustrations and audio in the app are protected by copyright; third-party materials are used under their licenses, with attribution in the app.

8. License agreement

The app is distributed through the App Store and is also subject to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA). Where these terms conflict with that agreement regarding the app license, that agreement prevails.

9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

We do our best to keep the app working but do not guarantee it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for data loss caused by a lost device, system failure, or your own deletion or sharing of data, or for health decisions you make based on the app’s content. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Changes and termination

We may update these terms to reflect feature changes or legal requirements, publishing the new version and effective date on this page and notifying you in the app of significant changes. You may stop using and delete the app at any time. If you breach these terms, we may stop providing the related service to you.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China (for the purposes of these terms, excluding the laws of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). Mandatory laws of your place of residence that give you more protection still apply.
